BRITISH LIONS TOUR
Tri-Nations or Rugby World Cup trophy. Other milestones are to play a test against the All Blacks in New Zealand. However, to play against the British Lions in a test match is one opportunity that few of the top players ever get.The British Lions tour South Africa once every 12 years. Before the 2009 series the Springboks only managed to win one series against the Lions in 40 years. They suffered a crushing defeat of 3-0 against Willie John Mc Bride's side in 1974; they lost against all odds 2-1 in the 1997 series against Martin Johnson's team. Morne du Plessis' 1980 team was the only team that managed a series win. They took the honours by 3-1 when they defeated Bill Beaumont's side thanks to individual brilliance of players like Gysie Pienaar, Gerrie Germishuys, Naas Botha, Rob Louw and Moaner van Heerden. In 2009, the Springbok team was given an opportunity for ‘pay-back time’. Legends Sport has managed to select a range of great photo's that reflects a good summary of the highlights of the whole series. Who will forget Jaque Fourie's powerful try in the corner at Loftus, Beast leaping over Phil Connell, Morne Steyn's crucial kick to clinch the series, the determination on John Smit's face as he lines up to tackle Phil Vickery not to forget Habana's try that started the fight-back at Loftus. In addition, as a reminder of the unity amongst the players, we added the wearing of a white arm band on the jersey’s sleeve. The armband was a symbol of the team’s demonstration against Bakkies Botha’s suspension of 4 weeks for the cleaning a ruck.Legends Sport is doing a limited edition of only 100 frames, selling at R 7 750.00The size of the frame is 1500 mm x 1200 mm
